Most smaller racers opt for the Euro style Presta valve vs Shrader valves which are more common on larger bikes and what you're used to on you car tire. The Presta valve is lighter than schrader and can hold higher pressures so it is an obvious choice for racing. You'll know you have a presta valve if you need to unscrew the tip to add or remove air. Some wheels and rims are only made in the diamter of a presta valve, so be certain you can fit one through before making your purchase.
