The Mission Control stem features a topload design forged from 6061 aluminum with a cold forged aluminum top cap for additional strength, recessed sides, solid stem bolt and a deeply channeled front and bottom section to remove unnecessary weight.

There is a trend in any mature industry to make things cheaper. This is a cheap stem. The Mission site describes this as "6061 aluminum cast body and cold-forged cap". If you're a heavy rider or really strong, don't buy any stems that say cast aluminum. Two of the lower threaded holes for the cap stripped out after landing from an air on a quarter. The bars completely moved and injured the rider. This stem was on my bike but a friend was riding it.

Make sure you check the vendor description of any stem before you buy it. The description on Danscomp was this: "features a topload design forged from 6061 aluminum with a cold forged aluminum top cap". Which makes it sound like it's all forged aluminum. The vendor site says "cast body". Forged is stronger (3x?) than cast. IMO, cast aluminum stems should NOT exist on Danscomp without a rider weight spec or at least an accurate description. Even still, with the amount of abuse we put our stems through in this sport, I'm not sure if cast aluminum stems should even exist for BMX. Sure, the stem body might not snap but the tapped threads can't handle the extreme forces.
