Welcome to the Dan's Comp Pro Team: Jack Hennicke

Q: Welcome to the team, Jack! Being the "new guy" when it comes to pro BMX riders, let's start with the basics. How did you first get into BMX?

A: If I go back to the beginning, I raced motocross until I was about 11 years old. I always had a BMX bike. I used it more to pretend it was a dirtbike, building jumps at the track in the mornings before motos and stuff. But outside the track, if I went to the skatepark, it was always on a skateboard.

When I was around 14, I rode my bike to the skatepark and my buddy convinced me to throw my bike over the fence and ride that instead of my board. He taught me how to toboggan out of the flyout bank. Something clicked in my head that day and I didn’t want to skate anymore.

Long story short, that kid was friends with the THANKY U crew (Jared Duncan, Justin Spriet, Beau Harmon, Jacob and Joel Bush, Troy Cooper, and Kiefer Green), who my crew eventually became close with as we got older and better at riding. The thankyou dudes, especially Justin, helped mold me and a whole generation of us in our town into who we are today. On and, unfortunately, off the bike, haha.

Q: 2025 was a crazy year for you! You were announced Pro for Merritt, then immediately won "Rider Of The Day" during BMX Day 2025. How did it feel having all this come at once?

A: Truly unreal. I think Mike Brennan told me while eating dinner that night after I won, “we couldn’t have written a better weekend if we tried.” Sums it all up. All the little kid dreams came true in 48 hours, it was damn near perfect. It took a while for it to set in, but it is still just as insane now months later. Not gunna lie, I framed the shirt they turned me pro in, along with the gold chain from BMX Day with a few other things from that weekend. Forever stoked.

Q: What riders (past or present) have inspired your riding style?

A: Justin Spriet, Jared Duncan, Garrett Reynolds, Devon Smillie and Jim Cielencki. I take inspiration from so many people it’s hard to narrow down, But this as concise as I can get.

Q: What's one thing about your bike you're super particular about? Or can you just jump on anything and immediately adjust?

A: My #1 is cutting my bars. I cut them to around 27 inches. Everything feels wrong if that isn’t done asap. Honorable mention to my layback seat post, I just love the look.

Q: You've been on our radar for a while. How did it feel to get the call to join the Dan's Comp team?

A: It is crazy to imagine I am on anyone’s radar, but it felt very good to get the call from my guy Chris Reez. To go from begging my mom to buy me a translucent plastic pivotal seat out of the catalog, to getting put on Dans Pro team is incomprehensible to me.

Q: What are you interested in outside of BMX?

A: I’m really into cars, I just lack the cash and space to own anything cool. Hopefully I’ll get to participate someday.

Q: Anyone you want to thank?

A: Yes, so many people. My mom for being my undisputed #1 supporter. My girlfriend putting up with all the injuries and weekends away. Zack Dunn. The whole @thankyouaf crew for bringing me up. Mike Brennan for moving me out east to work but still pushing me to ride when he could of locked me inside the warehouse and threw away the key. But most importantly, all the knowledge he has bestowed upon me.

Ralph Rodrigues for getting out every weekend and pressing the record button. Chris Riesenberger, Billy Perry, Zack Henderson, Marc Ramos, probably a few others missing but they know who they are!
