What size wheels should you be riding and racing?
Below are recommended weight brackets to determine the appropriate width of your BMX wheel. Smaller BMX Racers may benefit from reduced rolling resistance on a more narrow wheel, but should consider moving up at the upper end of rider weights when they start jumping.
Max Rider Weight | Rim Width |
---|---|
Up to 65 lbs | Sew Ups |
50 lbs to 90 lbs | 20 or 24 x 1-1/8" |
85 lbs - 120 lbs | 20 or 24 x 1-3/8" |
115 lbs - 150 lbs | 20 or 24 x 1.50 |
140 lbs and up | 20 or 24 x 1.75" |
Trails/Street Riders | 20 x 1.75" |
