Alienation has now entered the TPU tube game! What does TPU stand for? Thermoplastic polyurethane. What does that mean? It means these things are light as heck! These Alienation Featherweight tubes weigh in at just 2.05 ounces (58g). This is a whopping 70% lighter than a standard inner tube!
If you paid attention to Bill Nye The Science Guy in school, you may have learned that spinning/rotational weight makes a big difference, especially when you are in the air and the wheels are spinning. It's much more noticeable than stationary weight, like the frame, fork, cranks, etc. Throw a set of these tubes on and the first time you hit a jump you will feel a difference.
In our personal experience, these do not compromise durability or longevity. Several of us at Dan's Comp have been running TPU tubes for a long while with no more issues than a standard tube.
