At 6'2" 230lbs the bike feels smooth, sturdy and nimble for 26".
I upgraded to Kink Rex 9.5" bars and flipped the stem (now about a 1.5" above stock, and with more sweep) to make it easier on my back.
Also added new grips for aesthetics.
The seat and post I upgraded to pivotal (the bike came with a basic seat gut post, unlike the adjustable post pictured, but the seat is very basic so I guess it was going to be upgraded anyway)
Had to rough up the brake pads and rim surface to get brakes to grip at all. I think an upgrade to stiffer cable and stickier pads is necessary to get any meaningful brake control.
For a $400 complete bike (on sale) + what will be about $200 in upgrades, I think this is a really good option for a mostly custom bike.
Thank you.
I'm a bigger (and older) guy - 6'2 235 - and got fed up with my MTB, started craving my old BMX feels.
Right off the top there's a few components that will need replaced if you have a particular standard for feel and durability.
New seat/post are a must. Bars/grips/stem that fit you better will give a huge increase in ride-ability.
Past that you'll be set for a good while.
The only component that is BAD out of the box is the brakes/lever.
Very cheap and floppy, weak. One of the arms of the brake scrapes against the seat stay too, so upgraded brakes and lever will be a necessity too.
Still, for the price it's a winner. The milk chocolate paint job is smooth and unique. I was surprised that the head tube badge and the tip tube "decals" aren't decals at all - they are thick gauge aluminum. Gives it a very "quality" look, though I'll probably remove the TT ones for a cleaner profile.
Thats all.
See ya on the street.
