Odyssey A Brake Pads (Threaded) (Clear) (Soft Compound)
I bought a Cult 29” and it came with 990’s and black pads. No matter how much I adjusted the brakes the stopping power was not that great. I read up on clear pads and saw that these Pads were cheap and from a great company so i bought them. My bike stops on a dime now. Do they squeal of course but I can now stop. You want stopping power than buy these pads.

Odyssey A Brake Pads (Threaded) (Clear) (Soft Compound)
It's been a long time, and my memory is lacking, but clear compound pads really are for trials use only! These are very grippy, but they are extremely loud, also. So loud that I instantly removed them and reinstalled my former pads that were horrible (after the fact realized they were old and needed a sanding). Sanded the old, basic, black pads, and they were better but still not great. Did some research and reinstalled these A Brake pads with LOTS of toeing (business card folded to give 3x thickness placed at trailing edge of pads) and that has helped tremendously with the noise. My problem is that I have anodized rims. IF the noise stays minimal (still mildly squeaky) I'll be o.k., but if not then next step will be to sand the anodizing off my rims.

Bottom line is that these are not typical pads. They are loud and for locking up your wheels. If you install them like normal they will squeal a lot. If I had to do it over I would try Odyssey's red compound.
