Note: To ensure that every component on your bicycle is working properly, Dan's Comp recommends that all bikes be assembled by a qualified mechanic. Improper assembly of your bicycle may lead to premature wear or failure of individual components such as headsets, crank assembly and wheels. Failure to do so may void the manufacturer warranty.

Upon disassembly it was clear that not a dab of grease was used in china on assembly of the bottom bracket. It was dry as a bone and the bearings had exploded and been the cause of the failure. After proper reassembly and lube the bottom bracket has been smooth as butter. Ive never seen this on any walmart/toys r us brand bike before.and its disappointing DK couldnt have had the Chinese warehouse at least put a dap of grease on the BB as part of the assembly.
Having said all this i still would recommend this bike with the knowledge going in that you should dissassemble the BB and lubricate on arrival. Even if you buy a $40 odyssey BB and install it off the hop youre still saving money off the next cheapest 6061 framed bmx bike. Buy it and just be prepared going in. I have no other complaints besides the BB.
Advertised as made in Ohio USA. I wouldn't have ever knowingly spent that kind of money on a Chinese product. First day with the bike, so far so good I guess accept the dead silent spongey feeling driver. Don't have the patience to go through a return process so I guess I'm stuck with a Chinese DK. We'll see how it goes.. I can't stress enough that I never would have made the purchase had I known it was made in China but the description and research I did on DK suggested it was an Ohio product.
Now I'm not so sure I'll ever order from Danscomp again and instead opt for the manufacturer website for future orders.
