DK Swift Pro BMX Bike (20.75" Toptube) (Black)
Bike was purchased for a 115lb 5’ 7” 14 year old to cruise the suburbs. This is the only “name brand” bmx bike you will find at this price point on Dan’s comp or elsewhere with an aluminum frame, and its dramatically lighter then the majority of bikes that cost 25% more. It’s a steal at it’s price but there are reasons for this. Although functionality out if the box was perfectly fine, it is made in china and cheaper parts have been used. A bmx bike is a fairly basic tool so there is not much that can cause the bike to be inoperable. The brakes function fine, no real complaints there. same for the chain and pedals. This bikes achillies heel is the bottom bracket. After 3 months my son reported the bottom bracket making some noise and feeling crunchy. 2 days later it had seized up altogether and the bike was inoperable. I called dan’s comp the following day and they were awesome about it. Despite it being 3 days past warrenty expiry they sent me out a replacement bottom bracket (ODC-103-BK) that arrived 2 days later. 10/5 stars for Dan’s Comp service. Extremely impressed.
Upon disassembly it was clear that not a dab of grease was used in china on assembly of the bottom bracket. It was dry as a bone and the bearings had exploded and been the cause of the failure. After proper reassembly and lube the bottom bracket has been smooth as butter. Ive never seen this on any walmart/toys r us brand bike before.and its disappointing DK couldnt have had the Chinese warehouse at least put a dap of grease on the BB as part of the assembly.

Having said all this i still would recommend this bike with the knowledge going in that you should dissassemble the BB and lubricate on arrival. Even if you buy a $40 odyssey BB and install it off the hop youre still saving money off the next cheapest 6061 framed bmx bike. Buy it and just be prepared going in. I have no other complaints besides the BB.

DK Swift Pro BMX Bike (20.75" Toptube) (Black)
Super light weight, great dimensions, soft grips, nice seat etc. was so excited to slap it together and break it in. Got it all together and adjusted and I go to spin the rear wheel to see if the breaks are sticking and the sound, it was awful, like something from Walmart. I thought whatever maybe it feels better than it sounds... Took it for a ride got back home and looked everything over only to find that the whole bike is MADE IN CHINA. Such a disappointment. No wonder it seems "off"
Advertised as made in Ohio USA. I wouldn't have ever knowingly spent that kind of money on a Chinese product. First day with the bike, so far so good I guess accept the dead silent spongey feeling driver. Don't have the patience to go through a return process so I guess I'm stuck with a Chinese DK. We'll see how it goes.. I can't stress enough that I never would have made the purchase had I known it was made in China but the description and research I did on DK suggested it was an Ohio product.
Now I'm not so sure I'll ever order from Danscomp again and instead opt for the manufacturer website for future orders.
